[Salt's Wake, a cleric of Umberlee and Korinth the Sellsword have been hired onto the Sea Wyvern, which is on its way back to Farshore. Just recently they have been getting up to hijinks in Port Nyanzaru.]

DAY 802 12th Mirtul (May)

Today the Blue Nixie and the Sea Wyvern sailed out of Port Nyanzaru. The journey was uneventful until...

DAY 815 25th Mirtul (May)

Today there was great concern when a giant octopus surfaced near the Sea Wyvern and approached with its tentacles flailing. It wasn't hostile though, it was in great distress. The octopus was intelligent, having been awakened by a powerful sea druid and it even had a name "Agatha Slucker". Urol (the ship's gnomish druid and scholar) was brought up to speak to it.

It was distressed because its daughter had been kidnapped by Sahuagin. They had taken her onto dry land, beyond Agatha's reach and so the mother had been approaching passing ships to try and get help from 'land walkers'. So far with no luck, but some of the people on the Wyvern craved excitement, and possibly loot, so the changed course and followed the octopus to the island where her daughter was being held.

Two hours later they anchored at an small tropical island and a boat was lowered to take the volunteers ashore - they were: Salty, Korinth, Able (a roguish halfling) and Ash (a lizardwoman ranger). Able and Ash had come onboard at Nyanzaru and were in search of adventure.

They landed at a quiet shore and walked around to the Sahuagin camp. It consisted of a dozen or so huts that lined the shore. Some were on stilts in the sea. There was a cave entrance at the back, in a low cliff that backed into the jungle.

Able climbed up onto some rocks to get a closer look and tried to sneak to the cave, but it was too heavily guarded. For a while Salty considered appealing to the Sahuagin on an ecumenical matter - as their god Sekolah and Umberlee have an  uneasy, transactional alliance.

In the end he decided not to, but for a while was confused as to where the  Sahuagin were holding the octopus child. He had to be reminded that the daughter was humanoid in appearance, thus likely adopted. It took Korinth a surprisingly long time to get this all straightened out in Salty's head!

With all other plans having been dismissed they went for the simplest and easiest thing - frontal assault! Korinth charged in and attacked the nearest group of Sahuagin warriors while Salty kept close, casting spells and whacking away. Able and Ash shot arrows from further back. Ash moved to melee as they became overwhelmed by nearly a dozen warriors and coral armoured guards.

Non-combatant females and juveniles fled into the sea or into the cave. As the last of the guards was finished off, our heroes whiped the fishy blood off  their weapons and cautiously entered the hot and fetid cave.

More, even tougher Sahuagin waited in the first, partially flooded chamber. Salty summoned a zombie ogre to hold the front like. A large Sahuagin met it head on and it looked like he was winning the battle until Able snuck up behind him and stuck a dagger in his kidneys.

With the first chamber emptied, the four heroes got their breath back and considered what to do next.
