Karma Kingdom Development Blog
Please take a moment to let me tell you about my project that I have been working on for the last five
years.
When I started it, I spent a lot of time in front of the computer and often played Internet games and idle games and that sort of thing. They all have the same format - you click away and among other things you earn achievements.
You get a nice little feeling from playing the game each time you get one, but after a while I realised that - of course - these are entirely empty achievements.
I thought, wouldn't it be nice if all those hours I had spent clicking on monsters or cookies or whatever had actually achieved something in the real world?
I took a look on the Internet and didn't see anything like what I was picturing in my head but there were lots of Click-to-Donate sites. Someone could make a game out of that, I thought.
So I started doing that. Five years on I am still working on it. I find it fun, and it keeps my Javascript skills from fading away.
Let me tell you about the game.
Each time you click on one of the buttons it opens up a new tab on your browser and you have to do whatever click to donate is there. Meanwhile, in the Karma Kingdom, your kingdom grows.
If you clicked on a tree, your kingdom gains a tree. If you clicked on a person, your kingdom grows in population.
Each time you play, your kingdom gets bigger. The larger your kingdom the more good you have done across the Internet in many countries all over the world! Your kingdom is a representation of your good deeds and the achievements you have gained in the game are linked to real achievements you have done in real life!
If you play the game then please let me know your thoughts. You can do so here:
