(G196 18/04/2014 via Roll20 - JF, AP(GM), Mira, Des)

So, to keep the prisoners safe from Destryl as much as anything else, we prepared a team for another
attack on the keep.
Jiggles, Lavinia and Shump would stay behind to guard the prisoners and act as a reserve while me,
Sylvia, Mira and Destryl went for the keep. Mr B came with me of course.

I made a hole in the right hand side of the keep (bit of a mistake this as was revealed later) and
Destryl charged in recklessly.

I cast a light spell, but we could still see oddly roaming shadows in the room we had stepped in to.
Mira checked the door to the west and finding it clear Destryl opened it. No one had noticed the other
door in the western wall of the south part of the room.

The next room was very large. It had once been splendid, but was now decayed and crumbling. Elegant columns
lined its central area and statues stood in alcoves in the walls. There was a giant orb of swirling shadow
in the middle of the room throwing out tendrils of shadow that sucked the light out of the place.

Several creatures lurked in the shadows and straight away we were attacked by Shadar-Kai. Arrows whooshed
in from the darkness and the ones closest to us leapt in with those annoying spiked chains.

From the first room I started summoning fire elementals and Sylvia cast Daylight. Destryl killed one of the
Shadar-Kai while Mira, much like Meree from the Sea Wyvern, traded arrows with the others in rapid sequence.
She seemed to be able to fire an arrow about every two seconds.

My elementals then moved into the room to shed more light on the situation and we cautiously pushed further
into the room. A line of acid suddenly stuck out from the darkness and hit Sylvia and Destryl.

It was then that we noticed the door behind us as it opened and more foes attacked us in the rear. Four
robed people advanced on us, casting low level wizard spells. There was a nasty looking priest chappie
behind them.

Destryl rushed from the big room into the small one with me and Mr B, but this left Sylvia alone in the
room and she was attacked by a female half-dragon being.

Rather panicked I started laying out my biggest spells and cast Flamestrike on the priest but he managed
to jump out of the way. The priest then cast Spiritual Weapon and the dammed thing then proceeded to
bonk me repeatedly on the head.

Wisely Sylvia ran from the room as the half-dragon shot a lightning bolt at her. Myself and Destryl
were then hit by a thrown pot of Alchemical Fire. Things were going badly.

Destryl, changing the direction of attack yet again cried,
'Dragonfolk! I challenge you to single combat. One on one! The losers ...um... compatriots ... umm
must put down their weapons!'

Mira rolled her eyes and kept up her determined firing of arrows at the dragon woman. This displeased
Destryl who instead of attacking their mutual enemy spent several moments looking daggers at the little
halfling.
'Attack that dragon again and the next thing I attack with my blade will be you!'
'Meh.', Mira replied.

If I'd had time I might have tried to help out there but I was busy fighting the priest and his minions.
I even had my scimitar out now and was striking out at them. The priest ran and drank a healing potion
from behind the door he'd come out of. I stuck down one of the robed fellows and then ... *BONK!* .. that
blasted Spiritual Weapon knocked me for six!

I only lost a moment or two though because Sylvia healed me with her magic and I was back on my feet again.
With a pounding headache I went back into the fight. Very close to being dead that time, don't you know.

Meanwhile Destryl hissed 'I'll deal with you later.' and finally attacked the dragonlady. Just as her swords
began to strike home though she was hit by a Hold Person spell and then an Inflict Moderate Wounds.

Mira tried her best, but she was just a wee halfling with a bow and arrow and the next blows the dragonlady
landed on the prone Destryl were fatal.

Back at my part of the fight I summoned some crocodiles and sent them into the fray. I should always just
start with them shouldn't I? Just have a swarm of crocs.
Well, the killed the priest with their mighty tail slaps and then swarmed into the big room, slapped the
remaining Shadar-Kai bandy and started to menace the dragonlady. Sylvia was back on the scene in the big
room, too late to save Destryl but she did vanquish the dragonlady with a Searing Light spell that sent
her flying and as dead as a doornail.

Overjoyed at our victory I sent the crocs in to chase the last of the Shadar-Kai. Mr B, ever loving of
a fleeing enemy, charged in too, but stepped into a tendril of darkness and vanished!

Filled with terror I rushed up to the orb and cried, 'Mr Badgerington! Where are you? Oh woe is me!'
and other such silly things. He appeared about a minute later though and seemed unperturbed. Wherever he'd
been we had no idea.

Sylvia and Mira tied up the only enemy left alive, a human that had been with the priest.

During the fight I'd cried out for Shump and he now turned up, but it was all over by then. We took stock
of the situation. Destryl was dead so we wrapped her in her cloak and put her to one side.

I wondered where on Faerune this strange little thing had come from and what had imbued her with such
strong and reckless power? She had rushed all the way from Weyloon on a quest for adventure but had died
in her second fight. She's been quite unlike any creature I'd ever met. I wondered if it would be worth
casting a Reincarnation spell on her.

After that Mira asked for more arrows and I gave her a bunch from the back of the donkey. She requested
a very specific number as well, apparently one arrow over her limit and she would be so overloaded she
would become insufficiently nimble! One by one I counted arrows out and put them into her quiver until
she said, 'That's enough!'

DAY 50 (mon) continued ...

The shooting and running around continued. A guard retreated into a room and started calling for
help on his communicator.

Ensign Burns was doing well on the ground, between him and Ensign Smith them managed to stun
two guards, but then one of them took out his nightstick and started hitting him. Lying on the
floor didn't seem so much fun after that.

To take out the hiding guard Burns ran around to another room and using 'Setting 23' on his
phaser burned a hole in the wall. He then took out the last guard.

Finally they had a moment to go check the person in the bed and when Videk reported that it
was Chakotay, Ensign Burns declared 'Thank Fuck!', and Ensign Kirk beamed them all aboard the
Aeroshuttle.

Chakotay was in a bad way though and his drip was leaking all over the cabin floor. They managed
to get him into the medical area though and made him comfortable.

When he could speak he said,

''
I've handed the microfilm over to a protest group here in Markov. We can only hope that this evidence
and plans for better energy sources is enough to prevent disaster here. That's the good news .. *groan*..
..*cough! cough!*. The bad news is that from talking to the people here the accident is much more likely
to happen in Kalto.
Ensign Kirk, your mission is more important than ever, if this planet is to be saved. Take your team down
to Kalto and get the microfilm to whoever needs to see it. Not only that, but you will also have to render
Reactor 7, which is just outside the city of Juke, inoperative for as long as possible. I'm not sure but
I think that will be where the accident takes place. This has to be done within 35 hours...
Videk will know what to do... *cough* Excuse me. I must rest.....
''

Videk stayed with Chakotay while the others went through to the cockpit to talk. Burns and Smith
wanted to follow their orders from Tuvok though and take Chakotay back straight away. Kirk would have
gone along with Chakotay's orders but was outnumbered so agreed that they should go back.

Burns, who had been the most adamant that they leave right away, gave a speech to Chakotay in regards to
the prime directive and how the Maquis were traitors but it fell on deaf ears. As far as the Commander
was concerned they were leaving a troubled planet to an uncertain fate.

A course was set for return to Voyager.

DAY 51 (tue)

By 'midday' of this day according to ship time, they returned to Voyager.

Since they had all been injured and had been down on an alien planet they were all sent straight
to the Doctor in med-bay first.

It was here that Ensign Rick Smith had a problem. He was, in actual fact, a cardassian spy called
Noxus! He'd been a spy within the Maquis, posing as an AWOL Star Fleet officer and had been onboard
the Val Jean when it had been dropped in the Delta Quadrant.

Now it looked like his cover was blown, because while he looked human on the outside he was a cardassian
on the inside. Before the Doctor could discover this though he revealed himself privately and
the Captain and Tuvok were summoned.

'Look I confessed!', he declared, 'I'm not a bad guy.'
'You waited until the moment you were about to be discovered.', pointed out Tuvok.
'Maybe...'
'You and I will have a long interrogation session,' said the vulcan, 'In the mean time I'll leave
you in the Doctors care.'

Meanwhile, Chakotay was badly injured and would be in med-bay for a while, but Kirk and Burns
were kept in for one days observation only.

Next Tuvok came to question them prior to their full report but seemed generally satisfied that they
had done the right thing.

Burns tried to talk to his 'friend' Ensign Smith, but was met with silence.

DAY 52 (wed)

Ensign's Kirk and Burns were discharged from med-bay and spent the rest of the day writing up their
action reports.

Noxus found himself in the brig where he was eventually visited by the Captain and Tuvok.
He spilled his guts about everything he knew about the Obsidian Order (the cardassian spy organisation)
and everything else he knew about anything.

This probably helped his case a bit, but in the brig he stayed for now.

DAY 53 (thu)

Today Ensign Kirk and Ensign Burns were back on duty.

Ensign Parsons was shifted to another armoury and Burns joined Kirk on the day shift.

In the evening Ensign Kirk started experimenting with the use of his Engineering robot
and the targeting system he was developing.

DAY 54 (fri)

Ensign Kirk and Burns on duty / D6A.

Noxus languishes in the brig.

While eating his evening meal in the mess hall Burns was surprised when Chakotay came to his
table and tossed a datapad at him.

Chakotay left and Burns read the data on it. In summary it showed that long range subspace
scans of the planet Markov-Kalto showed that a Polaric Ion Energy disaster had occurred
on the continent of Kalto, killing six million people.

Burns' face was unreadable as he took in the information on the datapad. After a while he
got up and left the mess hall leaving it there on the table.

That evening Ensign Kirk spent more time learning how to use his Engineering Bot.

DAY 55 (sat)

Today Ensign's Kirk and Burns were given duty in the brig. Burns eyed Noxus grimly. His so
called friend and room-mate had turned out to be a cardassian spy. His very own father had
been killed by cardassian's so he had no love for these aggressive people.

The shift was uneventful though. Since they had a half day Burns sought out Nelix who was
looking around the messhall. He was checking if he could use any of it as a kitchen and
had even set up a small cooking area where he was preparing some food.

Young Ensign's and Crewmen often set each other dares and challenges and there was one
going around the lower decks that the first person to kick Nelix in his nether-regions
would be proclaimed a hero. This was not at all welcoming to the ship's latest arrival
but none the less Burns had resolved to attempt it.

He tried to bluff himself into the aliens way and then bring his knee up, but Neelix
was too quick and said,
'Steady on there Ensign!'
Burns appologised with equal clumsiness, but Neelix was a good natured sort and replied,
'Well that's ok, want to try this stew?'
Burns tried it and said, 'That's nice!'
His first attempt had failed.

DAY 56 (sun)

What with the energy shortage on board and the large amount of water that would be required
for Kes' hydroponics garden the Captain had decided it would be easier to simply go get the
water rather than replicate it.

So an away team was gathered to sent to a nearby water world. It had a desalination plant on
it (and not much else) that was owned and managed by a Talaxian that Neelix vaguely knew.

The team that gathered at the 'Chocrane' shuttle included Ensign Kirk, Ensign Burns, Neelix
and Kes. Noxus would be their pilot. There was a shortage of pilots onboard and during his interrogation
he had revealed he had a small amount of piloting skill. The Captain had paroled him and told
him to make himself useful.

[Details of this below]
Recording of Tuvok's speach to Noxus

'Noxus of the Obsidian Order. It is the decision of the Captain that you are to be paroled. I will
arrange for the full terms of your parole to be presented to you on a datapad in due course.
It seems illogical to keep you imprisoned in the brig when the fact that we are 70 years from
home is a much more effectual prison.
You have appeared to be open and honest with us, but only after you were about to be revealed
 as a spy.
Be that as it may, the Federation-Cardassian Treaty was signed last year and we are no longer
at war. If this were back in Federation Space
you would be handed over to a civilian authority and we would be done with you.
That is not possible. The captain has decided that due to the exceptional circumstances you
are to be given parole on the ship but with strict
limitations. You are to stay in your cabin when not engaged in any activity sanctioned by
either me or the Captain. You are only to be supplied
with equipment and weapons only if it is relevant to the work you have been given.
The ship is crewed by many people that were once Maquis. For your own safety I recommend that
you keep as low a profile as possible.
You have certain skills that are useful to us and there is no reason why a mutually beneficial
arrangement cannot be met. If you prove yourself
useful you may over come the prejudices of some of the crew. Towards that end I have designated
you as the pilot of a routine mission to
a nearby planet in search of clean water. I will now escort you back to your cabin.'

[End Insert]

Before they left Kirk had a word with Crewman Anderson and asked her why the Delaney sisters were
so against him. She said she didn't know, but he sensed she was lying.
Lately he felt that one of the sisters was warming to him, but when there was two of them together
they closed ranks. He also wasn't sure which one it was that liked him more than the other.

On the trip to the waterworld the young Ensign's teased Kes which appeared to annoy Neelix but
no harm was done.

Six hours later they arrived at Hynoopa-3 an earth sized waterworld orbiting a yellow star. As is
often the way of these worlds though it was subject to high winds and stormy weather. Noxus managed
to get the shuttle to the Desalination Station without too much mishap but when he came to the landing
pad he literally crashed into it.

Many of the passengers were injured in the crash and Burns made a second attempt to attack Neelix
in the private regions but once again was thwarted.

All systems on the shuttle had gone down in the crash. Once they had checked themselves for broken
bones and gathered their possessions they stepped out onto the rain swept landing pad of the station.

DAY 217  (14 Marpenoth)(October) cont ...

The leader of the Shadar-Kai managed to escape his bonds, but Jiggles gave him a whack over the back of the
head and he fell to the floor unconscious. Gathan got in behind him though and killed one of the others.
A struggle ensued and Gathan was in turn knocked senseless by Jiggles and Shump.

Like an idiot I'd been trying to talk sense into Gathan, but of course he didn't understand me. I still had
that dream about a turtle in my head, and in that dream I could speak to Gathan through him.

Anyway, after all that, two people from Weyloon arrived. They were not sure of what was going on inside
the guards house and it got a little tense to begin with and Mr B had his hackles up, but in the end
we made friends with the new arrivals.

It was Mirabella Amberwill, a halfling and a strange young cat-like humanoid called Destryl. They had
heard about the temple and had come to Weyloon to help out. Mirabella seemed friendly enough but
Destryl at first tried to intimidate Shump and then went to sit in the corner and meditate.
That was just the start of it though.

After some discussion with Mira, she decided to go out with Jiggles for a scout around the keep. They
came all the way around the place and then like a pair of naughty school children went up to the front
door.

Mira opened it just a little and four lizardmen suddenly piled out! The shorties tumbled out of the
way and ran back as fast as they could. A human in plate mail also stepped out, then in a female
voice said,
'Close the door.'

Everyone in the guard house rushed out. Destryl shouted 'My armour is contempt!'.
Whatever that meant, some kind of cat-person war cry.

The battle commenced, but it was overkill really. Shump felled the woman with two massive strokes
of his scimitar and with my crocodiles arrival the lizardmen were vanquished as well.
One fell to a knife blade in the back from Jiggles and another from a katana slash from the cat.

The woman was still alive though so we dragged her back to the guardhouse. I noticed that the cat
took the woman's weapon and kept it for herself, despite the fact that it had been Shump that had
defeated her. Thing's were only going to get worse though.

The woman was more attractive than average, a chondathan by the look of it and Mira could talk to
her in that language.
Destryl pulled back the woman's hair and threatened her.
'You are a bunch of peasants' the woman snarled.
Next Destryl took out her smaller blade, but this just made the woman laugh.

Then to my amazement and dismay this teenage cat-thing stabbed the woman in the leg, aiming for the
femoral artery I assume, but missing.
'Please don't do that!', I cried.
Sylvia, grumbling under her breath, healed the prisoner. Jiggles drew her dagger and took a step back.
I tried to place myself between the woman and the cat.
By this time, the strange young cat-person had her larger blade drawn and was putting it to the woman's
neck. I tried to gently push the sword aside. It looked lethally sharp.

Destryl had been talking about this person called 'The Emperor'. It didn't ring any bells with me so
I asked, 'Who is the Emperor?'
'The true deity of all planes!'
I looked at Sylvia but she just shrugged. She had never been a good student, but she knew more about
religion than I did.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Mira, evidently bored, poking at the howling dog's corpse.

Me and Destryl were now in a tense standoff. She was just a girl, she looked about sixteen, but she was
obviously powerful in some strange magical way and very dangerous. I was very aware I was at the wrong
end of her sword but said,
'I don't know how you do it in cat land, but this is keep is my job of work, and my way is not to
kill prisoners.'
Her answer was,
'Who died and made you the Emperor? I only answer to the Emperor!'
'Well the Emperor is not here and I am.'

Nobody said anything after that until I shrugged and said, 'Let's all just calm down.' and moved
the woman away.
'We will have plenty of people to fight and kill when we take the keep. Save your bloodlust until then.'

I then asked the woman her name and she told me it was Mornscroll.

MOBILISATION FORM

Prepared by : LT Tuvok

Away Team : Ensign Charles Burns, Ensign Richard Smith, Videk Toranni, Crewman Hamilton

Briefing Notes :

I've decided to sent back a class 2 shuttle to the Kalto-Markov system to escort back Commander Chakotay and Ensign
Kirk. If they find that Chakotay has gone down to the planets surface they are to contact me at once.

Toranni, although a Romulan, is being sent as he is the nearest thing Voyager has to being an expert in Polaric
Ion Energy.

Vessel : Class 2 Shuttle 'Cochrane'

XXXXX Computer Compiled De-briefing Summary Below XXXXX

Videk said fairwell to his wife and met up with Ensigns Burns and Smith at the shuttle. Crewman Hamilton, a silent
individual was to be their pilot.

On their day long journey to Kalto-Markov Videk read Star Fleet manuals, while Smith put his feet up and chatted
to Ensign Burns.

They entered the system about a half hour after Ensign Kirk signed off communication with Chakotay.

DAY 50 (mon) continued ...

They started by opening a channel to the aeroshuttle and asking what was going on. Ensign Kirk answered them
flippantly. When asked where Chakotay was he replied,
'He's gone down to the planet for donuts.'
Burns hung up on him after that.

Kirk tried to contact Chakotay, but discovered that his communicator had gone off. It had been deliberately switched
off so he left a voicemail message for him.

Meanwhile Ensign Burns sent a subspace message to Tuvok but was also unsuccessful. There was to many subspace fractures
making that type of communication impossible.

Videk started scanning the Aeroshuttle from his console, but Kirk blocked it and opening a channel said
'Is there something I can help you with?'

Videk said he wanted to talk to Chakotay.

Ensign Burns, Smith and Videk then had a long conversation as to what to do next and eventually decided to beam
aboard the Aeroshuttle which is what they did, but Kirk quickly erected a forcefield around them,
'It's a fucking Romulan!' , he exclaimed.

But once they had all verified who they all were on their datapads Kirk lowered the forcefield.

As everyone briefed each other on the ongoing situation, Videk did some scans of the planet and detected that
it was, in his opinion, days away from a Polaric Ion Energy Disaster.

It was then agreed that Hamilton should be sent back on the Class 2 (to report to Tuvok) while everyone else
stayed in the MK system.

The newcomers decided to beam down to the planet to go after Chakotay and to that end effect disguises. Videk
and Smith went for Sergeant and Corporal in the Kalto Gendarmes while Burns opted for a 'very hip' costume of
a local. He later discovered though that he costume was about forty years out of date and rather odd looking
to the locals.

Videk took a record of all the locations Chakotay had been to on his away mission.

They beamed down to the last know location of Chakotay's badge. They attempted to be discrete and beam into
an alleyway but were spotted by a small blonde boy who ran off into the market square nearby to tell anyone
that would listen.

Videk scanned the area and detected Nadion Particles. This was a sure sign that a phaser had been discharged
in the market. He estimated that one to five shots had been fired in the last hour.

Burns questioned a pie seller and discovered there had been some shooting in the square an hour ago and the
others noted a pool of blood that was being watched over by a gendarme. The guard saluted Videk but he pretended
to look busy.
Videk then talked to the guard who said
'What precinct are you from?'
'What one are you from?' he countered.
'District 19.' the guard grunted gruffly
'I'm here on special assignment. I'm not obliged to give you my precinct name.'
'Part of Nakrad's mob eh? No terrorists involved in this one so you can keep your nose out of it!'

Meanwhile Burns had learned that the man wounded in the shoot out was most likely taken to the nearest police
precinct or hospital.
For some reason, pure mischief most likely, he decided to steal a pie from the pie seller!
If only he'd know though, the markets of Kalto were famous secondly for the amount of pie-thievery, but also
firstly, and most importantly, the eagle-eyed watchfulness of all pie sellers.
'Stop thief!' cried the pie seller.
'Oh I am sorry!', declared Burns with a mouthful of pie, 'What type of pie is this?'
'Uh .. Wibbleberry.'
'Oh no! I'm allergic to Wibbleberry! BARF!'

While Burns bluffed his way out of his predicament the others discovered that the injured man from the
shoot out had been loaded onto an ambulance. Thinking quickly, Ensign Burns said he was very ill and the pie
seller drew some directions to the nearest hospital on a napkin for him.

They were now concerned that the injured person in the firefight must surely be Chakotay.

The passed the police station and thought about entering, but decided to go straight on to the
hospital instead.

They were given free access to the building and found that the injured person from the shoot out was
on the third floor so up the went. A few doors down the corridor from the lift they saw two guards.

'Follow my lead', declared Burns and rolled around pretending to be sick in front of the guards.
'This man needs a doctor!', cried Smith.

They then proceeded to trip and fool around while Videk bluffed his way into the room. There were two
more guards inside though and when they demanded to know what he was doing he said,

'I work for Ministry of Secret Operations.', which would have been a decent bluff if he had been any
good at it.

The situation started to get very tense and guns were drawn. Videk fled outside into the corridor
and more weapons were drawn and fired.

As the shoot out between the three Voyager crewmembers and the four guards began Ensign Kirk, who had
been monitoring their comms badges from the shuttle, tried to help by beaming down four stun grenades.

Unfortunately something went wrong and they ended up knocking eight pensioners senseless in a geriatric
ward one floor down.

DAY 49 (sun) continued ...

Ensign Kirk spent some time trawling through the information the shuttle computer was gathering from
the radio traffic on the planet then he and Chakotay started getting a plan together.

They decided to put the runabout in a halfway point geo-static orbit so it could respond to either of
them in about five minutes flight time.

(Engineering note : Maximum  transporter range was about 40,000 kilometres on starships
so on 20,000km on runabouts. The planet diameter is 12,000km diameter, so four minutes (or so) to
get from mid point to transporter range.)

Next Kirk replicated some fake identity papers in the name of 'Tanso Billato' a man from a southern
region of Kalto, namely Pamplehot.

He also took with him 50,000 MKD in assorted bills and a photo of Sanner Tyle, a replicated 9mm pistol,
a backpack, civilian clothes (business suit) and a military uniform (medic / private).
Also, three sets of papers, the microfilm, his communicator and a map and compass.

He also arranged for more money and papers to be stored on the shuttle in case of urgent need.

And so the mission began, Chakotay beaming him down to a quiet forest area. Using the map and compass
Kirk headed to the nearest village where he took a bus to the capital. He had to ask for directions
though as he was unable to read the signpost and bus timetable.

He also noticed that everyone else was blonde in this region se before boarding purchased some hair
dye.

On the bus to Jike he talked to a young lady (named Yulia) that had sat beside him. She told him she was a
contractor for the military. Making conversation, and trying out his cover story, he told her he was a
tourist from the south.
She kindly looked over his papers and seemed to think they were ok, but that he lacked authorisation for
travel.

She also told him, if he managed to make it into the city, she could be met at the 'The Hungry Lion Inn
and Eatery' in the city centre.

At the outer check point to Jike Kirk hit his first snag. Him and two others were taken off the bus and
into a small office.

The first young man was told to go away since his travel visa was out of date. The second was travelling
on forged papers and once the guards had beaten him up a bit he was taken away to the 'Ministry of Information'.

Next it was Kirk's turn, 'I'm sight seeing...' he explained.

His story didn't really work, but a nice fat bribe did and he was put back on the bus with a three day
travel pass.

'Those papers must have cost a hefty bribe!' exclaimed Yulia as he re-took his seat.
'I'm comfortably well off' he explained.

So, he made it through inner check point where his travel papers were looked over one again but found
to be in good order by a 'Major Sherpa'.

Finally the bus terminated in the city centre and he went to the 'Hungry Lion' to get some food.

It had all went very well so far, but now Ensign Kirk made a fatal mistake and went to the final check
point between him and Zone 1 (The Administration District) and talked to a Lt Colonel about gaining
access.

This ended up with him being bundled into a truck and sent to the M.O.I to be interrogated by a female
soldier called Major Jets.

She took his microfilm, gun, ammo and all other possession and left him to stew in the interrogation room
until 7pm. Kirk noted that a camera was constantly watching him.

At 8pm a guard brought him a sandwich.

At midnight Major Jets returned.

DAY 50 (mon)

Major Jets began by asking about the Polaric Energy accident on the Romulan Moon that was detailed in the
microfilm.

To prove his story Kirk ordered the shuttle to come to his position and beam down a pack of money.
'You're an alien!', gasped Jets.

She then left to discuss matters with her superiors.

At 2am she returned with an elderly man in uniform known as General Jenid.

When told to 'Do it again.', he had the shuttle beam him out saying,
'Ill be back when you are more friendly.'

Next he beamed down a communicator to the interrogation room and returned the shuttle to its middle
position. He then ate and slept.

At 7 am he made contact and finally was talking to Dr Eria Rokot, a name on his list of people that should
get the information he had and Director of Polaric Ion Energy Board.

(Info insert:
Dr Eria Rokot - Female, 53, Director of Polaric Ion Energy Board.
One of Kalto's top physicists and a powerful member of the National Council.
Lives in a heavily guarded house in Zone 12, Jike.
She has no family.)

She said, 'I find this hard to swallow.'
So Kirk told her to take the communicator and he would beam her up to his spaceship.

However, what he got was a burly guard with a gun! So he beamed him back down again as fast as he could.

Kirk tried to talk some sense into the Kaltonian's, but they are a distrustful and suspicious people. He
checked the clock. T-39 hours until the 'event'.

In the end Major Jets volunteered to come up to the Aeroshuttle and was beamed on board. She immediately
threatened Kirk with a gun and when he didn't put up his hands she shot him twice.

He then quickly used a console to erect a forcefield around her. Seeing that she was caught she gave him
a nervous look and pulled a grenade from her pocket and pulled the pin...

Kirk beamed the grenade back to the co-ordinates of the com-badge in the interrogation room and then a minute
later he did the same with Major Jets.

He then teleported up the comms-badge. 'Dammit!', he sighed.

He then went over to Chakotay's side of the planet and reported in.
'How is the mission going?', asked Chakotay.
'Well...', replied Kirk.

It was T -36 to Destruction.

DAY 216  (13 Marpenoth)(October) continued...

Once inside we tried to wake one of the fey up, but I guess our hands were still a bit shaky from combat
so we did more harm than good really.

I had a bite to eat, anyway, then got straight into what I really wanted to do before anything else, which
was to cut open the wisp and see what was inside it. These are fascinating creatures, and to read more see
my further notes on the subject. (see Beast Journal Entry #1342)

I also dissected the remains of the chain welding fey and the howling hound once Shump had dragged it back.
(see Beast Journal Entry #1343 and #1344)

Jiggles helped me by taking notes as I got my hands bloody in the corpses.

After that I went to bed and had the strangest dream about a turtle-man called Sebastian. It was so vivid
and real I was utterly convinced that he had been here with us!

In the dream he had come to the door of the keep and said he had been sent by K. He was a pleasant and thoughtful
fellow and readily agreed to help us in laying siege to the rest of the keep. Alas though, it had all been
a dream. We could have used him.

DAY 217  (14 Marpenoth)(October)

Shump took the night time shift then Jiggles the early morning one.

The chain-wielders had regained consciousness through the night. I spoke to the leader, who could speak the
common tongue. He did not seem like a pleasant fellow.

Sylvia remembered some of her learning and told me they were Shadar-kai, a race of fey people linked by a
curse to the Plane of Shadows.

I asked Maurran, their leader, about who was left inside and he said 'Three more initiates from weyloon and
their handler, plus two more of his kin. No captives.'

I had a plan forming in my head that might have meant no more bloodshed, but Gathan had just woken up
and he had other ideas. He went for one of the tied up Shadar-kai...
