DAY 216  (13 Marpenoth)(October) continued...

Sylvia suddenly remembered she had a 'comprehend languages' spell memorised and cast it. So the
lizard man chief, once he realised she could understand him, introduced himself to us as Gathan and
explained that he was 'seeking an honourable death or revenge on his foes'.
He also told us that there were two other people he thought were higher up in the food chain than
the big scaly chap we had just killed, but he only knew them by their voices.
He estimated that there were about five to ten people remaining in the keep.

So, we went back down and checked the doors. I had to use stone shape though to get into the first
one and it proved to be a store, containing food, clothing and five large casks of assassin vine wine.

I tried to get through another door to the east but the stone shape spell did not reach far enough.

Well, next we decided to go back outside again and creep around the east side of the keep in the
yards behind the main wall. We reached the gatehouse and I knocked on the door. Nothing. Next Jiggles
picked the lock and in we went.

There was a bunch of evil-doers in here, including two undead lizardmen that Sylvia destroyed when she used
her spiritual powers to Turn Undead. The other guards Shump killed swiftly as we piled in and closed the
door to keep that thrice-poxed wisp out which had come around from its swamp to see what was going on.

We searched the guardhouse. There were food supplies in crates and other items of no great interest.

After a while we decided to take a look outside and as we stepped back out into the yard four fey looking
creatures leapt out of the bushes and attacked us with chains. Then, of course, the wisp swooped in and
started zapping everyone. It was all going wrong.

I cast Gust of Wind to try and blow it away, but it didn't work, so we ignored it and went for the chain-
wielders. One by one they were slain, by blows from Shump's scimitar and nifty knife work from Jiggles.
Mr B even got a hold of one of their legs and drew blood.

Once they were dealt with we were all injured but still had enough energy to surround the wisp and finally
deal with it. Jiggles snuck up behind it as it went into a zap frenzy on us and slipped her knife right
into its middle. It's light went out and that was the end of the fight.

Myself and Sylvia then checked out the battlefield and found that three of the chain-wielders were still
alive so we bandaged up their wounds, dragged them inside and tied them up.

DAY 41 (sat) cont...

ACTION REPORT : 'Security Sweep of Abandoned Alien Trading Vessel ID #AA900667'
PREPARED BY   : Crewman Telsia Murphy

Notes from the mobilisation briefing:

Derelict trading vessel. Signs are it was attacked about a month ago and stripped of all its
goods.
Coms panels and built in computers etc still present.
Janeway thinks it would be a good idea to strip them out and examine the tech as well as getting all
info from them including star charts.

There are odd chambers at the back of the vessel which need to be checked out first. Four squads,
in 2x2 formation.

It is a big ship, bigger than Voyager, and full of cargo holds and other areas.

Lt Andrews and Ensign Parson to port side, me and Ensign Kirk to starboard.

Action report:

We ported in to a safe chamber about ten metres from the first of the energy signals we were there
to investigate. On advancing into the area we were attacked by 3x Sec-bots and 2x Drill Bots.

We neutralized them and moved on to the next area. Here we were attacked by what the techies are calling
a 'Mining Bot' and two 'Tree Surgeon Bots'.

In the final chamber we were attacked by more bots including a 'Wrecking Bot' that fired hot rivets at
us and wielded a massive wrecking ball.

Thankfully after that we were finished because by then both me and Ensign Kirk were both in need of medical
attention.

Report Ends.

.....

Doctor's Report:

xx Ensign Kirk and Crewman Murphy xx

More redshirts in the medical bay. *SIGH*. Why are the Starfleet issue beds in medbay so narrow? Ensign
Kirk fell out twice, but then, he appears to be an oaf and used to bruises.
Both have been burned by hot metal and are badly bruised but are healing nicely. Once they are discharged
from medbay they should both be given a weeks rest.
I overheard Murphy telling Kirk that she had arranged to be given one of the bots they had been fighting
and listed them to Kirk.

3x Protocol Bots
2x Pleasure Bots
2x Butler Bots
1x Non-lethal Security Bot
2x Engineering Bots
1x Science Bot

Kirk said he take an Engineering Bot if Murphy arranged it. I assumed this was sanctioned by the
Captain so did not enquire. Apparently it would take Murphy's friend in engineering five days to
check over and reprogram the bots.

Report Ends.

DAY 42 (sun)

A day of rest for Paul Kirk. He was thoroughly pampered by Kes in their shared chamber.

DAY 43 (mon)

Another day of rest for Kirk. In the evening he managed to get Kes drunk over their dinner and they canoodled
on the sofa. She got too drunk and had to be put to bed though and they liaison went no further.

DAY 44 (tue)

Another day of rest for Kirk. Kes was rather hungover, but said she had enjoyed her evening and looked forward
to doing it again.

DAY 45 (wed)

Today Kes moved out though, as Neelix had requested she took up quarters next to his on Deck 8.

DAY 46 (thu)

Today Kirk met his new cabin mates, The Delaney Sisters. They didn't seem to think much of him.

DAY 47 (fri)

Today Ensign Kirk reported to Lt. Tuvok.

He was briefed on a mission. Voyager had recently passed by a red dwarf system, had noted an inhabited
M-class planet with a single moon. Since it was a pre-warp civilisation on the planet they did not make
contact.
However having analysed data from the moon Chakotay was going to use one of Voyager's runabouts to go
back and check the moon for dilithium deposits.

Tuvok was suspicious though as he knew Kes had had nightmares as they passed the planet about how it
was going to destroy itself due to using highly dangerous Polaric Ion Energy to power its cities.

Subspace fractures had been noted in the area which could possibly indicate that such an event was somewhere
in the planet's future. Any interference, however well intentioned, would break the Prime Directive.

Lt. Tuvok tasked Ensign Kirk into going with Commander Chakotay and to report his activities via subspace
coms if Chakotay deviated from his mission.

At 1700 hours Kirk reported to Chakotay and they set off for the Markov-Kalto System.

DAY 48 (sat)

The runabout Aeroshuttle arrived in the Markov-Kalto system and Commander Chakotay plotted a course for
the main M-class planet. Ensign Kirk was not overly surprised when Chakotay headed, not for the moon,
but the planet itself.

They then went into orbit and monitored a days worth of radio traffic.

DAY 49 (sun)

Chakotay requested that Ensign Kirk helped him break the prime directive:

'This planet is balkanised and it has only been a year since their was a world war here. The main continents of
Markov and Kalto along with their satellites fought a war that lasted eight years and cost a million lives.
If we give them plans for better energy production (nuclear fission) to one side and not the other it will
spark another war as one side will have a big advantage over the other.

From what I am reading from the subspace fractures and Polaric Ion Energy grid the catastrophy is going to
happen in three days. Possibly we have four days, it is hard to tell.

Given the time limit we have to do a side each. I will do Markov since this is where the catastrophy is
statistically more likely to happen. I need you to go to Kalto.

Firstly work out who the best person is to give the data to. Then work out how to get there. We can replicate
the local currency to help us out. When the data is handed over, use your communicator to contact me and
I'll come and get you in the Aeroshuttle.

I'm afraid we can't let any technology like tricorders or phasers fall into their hands so just take the
communicator. Use the universal translator function to try and blend in as best you can. If asked say you
are from an outlying region of Markov.

We have three days to save this planet. Better get to it Ensign.'

(G188 08/02/2014 Sat via Roll20 - JF, AP(GM))

[Incidentally, DAY 150 of Corum's game was DAY 330 of Rollo's game, making the offset
180. So today (DAY 214) is 214+180=394 for Rollo.]

DAY 214  (11 Marpenoth)(October) ...

Today is my birthday! Everyone has forgotten though. Or never knew it. I think Lavinia
has lost track of what day it is. Never mind, we are rather busy after all.

I've had two birthday's since my first step into Sassarine. The first day that this
'adventure diary' was started. I was 21 when that started, but today I am 23.
Getting old!

I'd lost track as well to be honest, but as I flew about as an eagle watching the
wisps I suddenly remembered. Oh yes, I thought, today is my birthday. I watched as
the three wisps lured and then killed a rabbit before consuming it somehow.

Thinking this was about all I would learn from them I then flew back to the others.

After lunch, we talked some more about what to do next and agreed that we were in no
rush and could afford to wait for new spells. We set up the camp again in our nice
little shaded nook and spent the night under the stars again.

DAY 215  (12 Marpenoth)(October

This morning we tried to take on the wisp with me using a summoned swarm of bats to
give it bleeding injuries that would hopefully kill it.

The plan went well enough, we lured it to attack us, then while Shump fended it off
I summoned the swarm. Once it was engulfed we retreated and Sylvia healed our wounds.

I went back later but the infuriating thing was still alive. Either it can heal itself
somehow or the swarm had had no effect.

We decided to wait until the crack of dawn the next day and try a different approach.

DAY 216  (13 Marpenoth)(October

From the west this time, I made a hole in the wall and we all quietly entered the courtyard.
There was a door in the west wall of the keep and I went and knocked on it, which made a
dog howl inside and seemed to stir things up a bit.

We then went through the door in the north wall which led to another overgrown yard.

The north east side of the keep had a big hole in the wall and we cautiously looked inside.
A sudden howl struck terror into Shump, Lavinia, Sylvia and Badger who all ran off as fast
as they could back out of the hole and into the swamp.

A chain thing hit Lavinia but thankfully she was still able to keep on running. Jiggles shot
at the dog that was the source of the howl and I cast flame strike into the darkness of the
tower. The light illuminated all manner of evil looking creatures within.

Jiggles was then hit by something that paralyzed her. I was too, but I managed to shake off
the effects enough to pick her up and flee after the others.

Once we'd chased down the others and regrouped in the swamp we headed back in. I was shaking
though as it could have very easily been the end for me and Jiggles. Paralyzed we would have
been at their mercy.

Composing myself we began the assault again. I sent in two flame elementals to scout the
room. One was struck by a spiked chain from behind the wall and then a lizard man lent down
from the spiral staircase in the centre of the room and shot at jiggles with a crossbow.

Everyone came out and I cast an ice storm spell which ended the chain creatures and the
two lizardmen on the stairs.

Now with the advantage we headed up the stairs and were met with the hideous sight of a massive
crocodile-man creature waiting to fight us. I noticed that there were also lizardmen chained
to the wall. It's next meal perhaps.

Shump bravely stepped up to meet the thing in combat and Sylvia cast Searing Light which seemed
to injure it a bit. The thing was incredibly strong and for a while I thought we might be in trouble
but working as a team we defeated it. Shump held it off, Jiggles snuck around the back and stabbed it
in its tender bits while I cast lightning bolts at it. Sylvia kept us all healed and even Badger managed
to get a hold of its ankle.
Only Lavinia had nothing to do as her arrows just bounced off it. I think she needs another role in the
group, but I can't think what. She is brilliant at talking to people and impressing them but not so
good in this sort of desperate, nasty struggle.
Shump went into a berserker raged and half a minute later it was all over.

We freed the chained up lizardmen and discovered that two of them were the chief that K had talked
about and his mate. Through gestures we sent them all away to safety in the swamp except the chief
who seemed to want to stay and slay any more enemies that we could find.
